Information about oracleThis was a place where the ancient Greeks came to consult their gods about the future. There were a number of these places, each one believed to be sacred to a different god or goddess. If a worshipper visited the oracle at Delphi, for example, he would ask the priest to discover from the god Apollo either what he could expect to happen, or what he should do next. The priest would conduct a ceremony which involved going into a kind of trance. After some time, he would announce the god's advice. This was usually worded in a mysterious fashion, and the worshipper had to think carefully in order to figure out its meaning.
